Earvin Magic Johnson Park Event center

A conceptual master plan intends to transform Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park, an existing 120-acre park in the Willowbrook community of Los Angeles County, into a high-performance model of sustainable park design for the 21st century. Approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in February 2016, the first phase of master plan implementation under MIG Landscape Architects, includes a new, multipurpose community event center; a lakeside loop trail with picnic areas, fitness equipment, and scenic viewpoints; a destination children’s play area and outdoor classroom; and native landscaping irrigated with water captured from the regional watershed and cleaned via green infrastructure and natural systems. The event center will be the program center of the park and stretches along the lake to offer indoor and outdoor social spaces with views of the water.
