CAMERON RESIDENCE

The 2500 square foot passive solar residence in Great Falls, Montana is sited at the edge of a bend in the Missouri River. Taking advantage of its southern views towards the river, the house’s orientation optimizes solar heat gain in the winter. Due to its modest budget, the house uses a simple, single-story volume and construction system of posts and trusses; in keeping with local vernacular building methods. The house is carefully sited to preserve the sand bluffs and native vegetation that keeps the shoreline, and base of the building, in place.
