UCLA REHABILITATION CENTER SEISMIC CORRECTION

The 130,000 square foot, four-story concrete frame building, built in the 1970’s, houses medical research laboratories, administrative offices and a rehabilitation therapy facility for the UCLA School of Medicine and Hospital. The seismic solution most cost-effective and least disruptive to the occupants proved to be the addition of exterior concrete shear walls and drag beams, which preserve the daylighting for and views from the interior spaces. The project also includes ADA upgrades and new fire alarm and protection systems.
