STAPLES CENTER ARENA SUSTAINABLE DESIGN PEER REVIEW

Paul Murdoch Architects directed this unprecedented peer review for the Arena Company’s design of the new $350 million stadium in downtown Los Angeles. With only several weeks to analyze 50% construction documents and submit a written report, the interdisciplinary team evaluated the design’s energy and water efficiency, use of low toxic and recycled content materials, indoor air quality, urban and site design characteristics and recommended a recycling plan for demolition, construction and operations. With the document and recommendations produced, the developer was able to satisfy the Community Redevelopment Agency’s project criteria for sustainable design and thereby proceed with fast tracked construction.
